So before I did production on my music video, I wanted to experiment for the music video in terms of filming for example in my house, I wanted to make sure I had the space and that it was realistic to film. The first scene i'd be filming in my house would my an argument between a father and son which would result in the son getting angry and going upstairs. In terms of camera movement, it would originally be low-angle then panning and tracking the son up the stairs and into the bedroom. Here is the footage of what that would look like without the subject:
After this scene, this then transitions into the scene with the character seeing the comments on social media and then proceeding to get emotional. Here is that rough scene:
After this, I then decided to actually go into my editing software and try and do some color correction, adding some semiotics and more symbolism into the project. I went on a few colour correction settings to test out what different moods would look like. I personally think it turned out very well. Here is the editing process of it:
Here is the result:
Slow Motion Experimentation
After doing some experimentation with some shots in my house, I decided to then work on some slow motion as in my music video, there is a scene with a father and son arguing. However, I am doing this scene in slow motion. So, with that being said, I wanted to experiment with slow motion. Originally, I decided to do it in my house using adobe premiere, however, this didn't work and the video came out jittery. This was the video:
This didn't work so I then decided to do one in college that involved someone running, this was the video that I got:
After then doing that, I went into final cut to try and see if I could do the slow motion there, I decided trying another software might work. This was the process of editing the slow motion
This was the result of the editing:
Overall, I feel like this experimentation was really beneficial in terms of learning my environment that I would be filming in and how to use that to my advantage. Learning the slow motions has allowed me to be able to use that in future videos which is really helpful.
Fisheye Lens
I then realised after doing slow motion that our college actually fisheye lenses. I decided to experiment with this as you can create an isolation effect with the lens and especially with the scene in the bedroom, I would love to use this to slowly show the isolation as my bedroom is actually relatively small. So I decided to borrow the fisheye lens to test it and see how it would create the isolated feel. This would also help in representing mise en scene and how that 'isolated' feel would represent and reflect his thoughts
